From the Road: Duran Duran On Growth, Fearlessness, and David Bowie

Written by Live Nation Staff • May 12, 2016

Keeping a band alive for 40 years is no easy feat—just ask Duran Duran founding member Nick Rhodes. "It's hard finding completely new things in music for anybody, but you can still carve out things that are different for you—a different shape, a different style," he says in our latest episode of From the Road. "There's a lot on [our new] album that I truly don't believe we've done before."The album in question, this year's Paper Gods, is the British new wavers' 14th LP, and a record that carefully balances their tried-and-true formula with new sounds, themes, and ideas about their ever-evolving live show.

"We know what songs people are paying to see, but we also believe that very few people out there are here tonight because they want to see an oldies act," says bassist John Taylor. "If we give them something that is new and cool, they're going to leave with a better experience than if we just play the hits."
