U2 is bringing their 1987 album The Joshua Tree to life in North America for two months of touring throughout the country. Running from May 12 to July 1, then continuing through July for several dates in Europe, the stadium tour includes a stop at Bonnaroo for the band’s first-ever headlining performance at a U.S. festival.

Celebrating 30 years since the album’s release, “it seems like we have come full circle from when The Joshua Tree songs were originally written, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk,” reflects The Edge.

Over the last three decades, The Joshua Tree has been a pivotal piece of work not only to the band’s rock careers, but in the world of rock music as a whole.

“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years,” Bono explains. “It’s quite an opera. A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation… all the greats... I’ve sung some of these songs a lot… but never all of them. I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are… it’s gonna be a great night. Especially when we play at home. Croke Park.. it’s where the album was born, 30 years ago.”

The shows will feature all eleven tracks from the band’s classic album, along with support from Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and OneRepublic for the American leg of the tour. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 11.
