Always the last to know when your favorite artist is going on tour? Concerts selling out before you can grab a ticket? Let’s change that. If you already know and love Shazam, you’re about to love it even more, thanks to a new partnership with live music info service Songkick.
Soon Shazam will be able to notify you when your next must-see show is with a tap of a button. This new feature is set to roll out in 2017 and will keep you on top of your concert game by offering details on thousands of tour dates.
We know Shazam as a song discovery app on our phones. Now, as part of the Songkick partnership, when you ask Shazam to identify a song, the app will also provide information about when and where the artist will perform next. You’ll be able to instantly add dates to your calendar so you’ll always be in the know—no more FOMO.
The deal between the two companies helps Shazam expand its utility, while Songkick gets the benefit of introducing its service to Shazam users. Sounds like a win-win to us.
Songkick CEO Matt Jones says of the deal, “The moment of discovery is such an important time to educate the fan about a show. I’m proud to say we’ve built a technology platform that will enable [fans to] discover new artists and immediately have the opportunity to see them live. Shazam plays such a pivotal role in music discovery, and we’re excited to expand our reach to millions of more live music fans around the globe, ensuring Songkick is available wherever fans are engaging the most.”
Shazam’s Chief Product Officer, Fabio Santini, adds, “We’re constantly looking to branch out in new ways to serve our users, focusing on what is important to music fans. In partnering with Songkick to create this new offering, we are able to further connect the dots from discovery to fandom that make up a strong artist-to-fan relationship. We are extremely excited about bringing this to our global community in 2017.”
Designed to be able to recognize and name every song that we either can’t remember or haven’t heard before, Shazam allows people to discover new music and artists with a tap of a button. Now, with Songkick’s concert info built in, perhaps users will find themselves inspired to experience the joy of live music more often.
