Lorde debuted her new songs live on Saturday Night Live this weekend, unveiling "Green Light" and "Liability" with a heartfelt theatrical flair that we've come to love from the New Zealand pop star.

For "Green Light," Lorde kept eye contact with the camera, and therefore, the live audience watching at home. She held that intensity throughout the performance as she erratically danced around stage, letting her music possess her as a row of backup singers helped her shout the crowd-sung chorus. And if that didn't touch you, her demure performance of "Liability" definitely left viewers emo. Near the end of the show, Lorde sat with her back to collaborator Jack Antonoff as she sang the heartbreaking piano ballad. "They say, 'You're a little much for me. You're a liability," she sang, defeated by the rejection of a lover. She wore all white, a floppy veil lifted from her face.

Both songs will appear on her sophomore album, Melodrama, which she announced last week will be out June 16. You can catch her on the road this summer at New Orleans' Jazz Fest, Governors Ball in NYC, and Bonnaroo in Tennessee.

After the SNL performance, Lorde revealed some backstage photos. Check them out below:
