Despite a no-social-media policy at the Met Gala, which was put into effect by Vogue editor Anna Wintour in 2015, there were dozens of selfies and bathroom shenanigans caught on Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram on Monday night. The costumed affair pulled in celebrities all around the world to show off their couture (the theme of the night celebrated designer Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons). Those A-listers couldn't stay off their phones, however, and luckily for us, we got to see the inner workings of the grandest ball in New York City.

Katy Perry performed that night, breaking out her new single, "Bon Appétit," for the first time. She got Migos to join her onstage to rap their parts on the song. We know this because Marc Jacobs decided to stream the whole gig on his Instagram story.

Although many of the attendees strayed from the Comme des Garçons theme, Perry made sure she was surrounded by faceless models onstage, flaunting a few Comme des Garçons looks.

Hailee Steinfeld was one of the celebrities who snuck out her phone to record Perry's performance, unveiling that KP played an a cappella version of "Chained to the Rhythm," along with older favorites like, "Teenage Dream" and "Firework."
