Katy Perry knew she was dishing up a lot on Monday morning (May 15), when she revealed the title of her new album, along with its cover art and release date. The LP, Witness, will get into fans hands on June 9, and a few months later, Perry will be embarking on its supporting tour, starting in September. Perry unveiled the news on her social media in all-caps, seemingly overwhelmed herself, "👁WITNESS 👁THE ALBUM❗THE TOUR❗IT'S ALL HAPPENING❗"
Here's what you need to know:
1. Witness contains the previously heard tracks "Chained to the Rhythm" and "Bon Appétit."
2. Perry kind of looks like David Bowie on the cover of the album.
3. Witness: The Tour kicks off September 7 in Columbus, OH at the Schottenstein Center. It includes four New York City area shows -- Barclays Center, Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center and Nassau Colliseum -- and plenty more, wrapping up in North America on February 5 in Vancouver, BC.
4. We're getting the album's title track today. The clip is below:
The tour looks fun. In an Instagram teaser, footage of Perry's Prismatic World Tour (which concluded in 2015) is pieced together with some of her biggest hits, like "Roar" and "Firework." The reminder of her 151-date sold-out tour is enough to get any Katy Cat amped up for this upcoming trek.
