Katy Perry invited two monstrous skeletons onstage at the 2017 BRIT Awards on Wednesday, when she performed her new single, "Chained to the Rhythm," at The O2 in London. Eerie, right?
"Chained to the Rhythm" is all about privilege, ignoring real-world problems and dancing the night away, so when it came to Perry's slot at the awards show, she emerged into the spotlight surrounded by faceless, white houses. The cardboard structures represent Suburban America, where Perry plays the rebel. Creepily enough, the white house started dancing, and Perry descended to the main stage, where she was joined by two suited skeletons, each towering a story high.
Much like he did when he joined Perry at the 2017 Grammys, Skip Marley appeared onstage for his verse, "The truth they feed is feeble / As so many times before / They greed over the people / They stumbling and fumbling and we're about to riot / They woke up, they woke up the lions."
