Ever wonder what your favorite bands are really like on the road? LNTV got the chance to sit down with British rock band Foals, New York rockers X Ambassadors, and the newest blessing from the pop punks gods State Champs to find out how they survive the boredom from being on the road.
Kicking things off, the British boys from Foals remind us that Americans will never be able to outdrink the Brits. “Basically the whole objective is to get the show out of the way so you can have a really good party,” the band jokes.
X Ambassadors took a bit of a different turn on the road. They’re committed to making the bus their home. Complete with homey photos, and scantily clad posters of one another in their bunks, they highly value the camaraderie they have as a band. X Ambassadors truly commit to the idea of being a close-knit and environmentally friendly group while out on the road. “We pretty much shower all together at once. We are really trying to save water.” Good job boys, we’re sure Leo DiCaprio is super proud of you for taking his Oscar speech to heart.
Finally, LNTV got to sit down with the young men from State Champs. While the other bands are partying and showering together, lead singer Derek DiScanio is calling his mom. “I have to call her and send her pictures everyday,” the singer explains before accepting a phone call from his mother where they discuss her riveting daily plans. “If we weren’t having fun with this, it’d be kind of bleak,” bassist Tyler Szalkowski tells us about how they stick together on the road as a band, but more importantly as friends.
You can watch the video above for more info on all the shenanigans these bands get into - and about how Derek’s mom is probably cooler than all of them combined. You can also catch State Champs out on tour with Sleeping With Sirens this fall!
