There are two things in life that bring true happiness… Christmas, and Chance The Rapper being excited about Christmas. Last night, Chance took the opportunity to showcase his insanely ecstatic Christmas spirit. The young Chicago-based rapper (aka “the future” according to Yeezus) stood up on stage with President Obama and co. for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree. Look at his excited face when singing “Jingle Bells” with President Obama and Santa Claus!

The rapper also performed a beautiful choir-backed rendition of “Sunday Candy.” Having the opportunity to perform in front of the First Family can be a BIT intimidating, but Chance—along with Nico Segal and the Social Experiment—took it in stride. So much so, that you could see the First Lady, President Obama, and even Sasha singing along with big smiles and head bopping flawlessly as only the Obama Family can. See them jam along below!
Chance is your regular Santa. He is probably the happiest performer on stage, and since he’s been spreading good cheer all year—like being on Kanye’s album, collaborating with Alicia Keys, releasing his own album, and driving voters to the polls during the election—we’re definitely putting him on our nice list. Prepare for lots of happy presents and giving back this year in your honor, Chance.
Hosted by Eva Longoria, the ceremony included other performers such as Kelly Clarkson, the Lumineers, James Taylor, Yolonda Adam, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood.
While we are COMPLETELY content with the Chicago-native rappers performance and spreading of goodness and Christmas happiness all around we also know that only one very controversial thing could have made this tree-lighting better.
We’re waiting for the two Chicagoans to get together and do something Christmas-themed for all of us to see.
